Madrid has reaffirmed its position as a global innovation and technology hub with the successful thirteenth edition of South Summit, co-organized with IE University. Held from June 5 to 7 under the theme “Human by Design,” the event is expected to generate an economic impact of nearly 35 million euros, marking a 25% increase from 2023.
The event was inaugurated by Madrid’s Mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida; Maite Ledo, Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence; María Benjumea, President and Founder of South Summit; and Diego del Alcázar Benjumea, CEO of IE University.
Diego del Alcázar Benjumea highlighted IE University’s entrepreneurial roots, emphasizing their shared goal with South Summit to place people at the heart of all innovation. “In a rapidly changing world, it’s essential to recognize the social value of innovation and technology,” he stated.
María Benjumea underscored the significance of this year’s theme in fostering a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. “All technologies are crucial for societal evolution, always keeping in mind that people are at the center and the creators of these technologies,” she remarked.
